The RC/Group A homologation version is not simply a higher-power ECU tune, it received a larger intercooler and an additional oil cooler that genuinely help the engine survive sustained hard driving better than the standard JDM or US-spec tune. If you plan to track or rally the car, the RC version is the safer long-term choice, but verify it is genuine using chassis number and factory documentation since low production numbers make fakes common. For a street car, the standard JDM or US-spec engine is just as durable as long as the timing belt, fuel lines, and brake lines have been properly maintained, so do not pay a premium for higher hp alone without verifying the actual hardware differences.
