Do not choose between these variants based on horsepower alone. The real dividing line is N14 (2006-2010) versus N18 (2011-2013): the N18 has a revised timing chain tensioner design that genuinely reduces, though does not eliminate, the platform's single biggest failure mode. A well documented, lower-mileage N14 is not automatically safer than a higher-mileage N18. Ask the seller which engine generation the car has (N14 or N18) and request evidence of any timing chain work regardless of which one it is.
