The power difference between standard Cooper S and JCW tune comes from ECU mapping, a larger intercooler, and a stronger clutch, not from a revised timing chain or fuel pump design, so the JCW is not inherently more reliable in the areas that actually cause N18 failures. Choose based on service history and chain documentation rather than hp figure. A standard Cooper S with a documented chain replacement is a safer buy than an undocumented JCW.
