Run a full VIN check against all 5 active NHTSA recalls and confirm dealer completion stamps for each, especially airbag, wiring, and engine recalls on 2015 models
Inspect and test-drive specifically for driveshaft vibration or clunking under hard acceleration, particularly on manual transmission variants
Request full oil change history, look for synthetic oil use and intervals under 8,000 km, walk away if service records are incomplete or show extended intervals
Have an independent shop perform a compression test and oil analysis to screen for early internal engine wear before purchase
Cross-reference claimed mileage against wear indicators (pedal rubber, seat bolster, steering wheel), service stamps, and a Carfax/AutoCheck history report to screen for odometer fraud
Check for any supercharger belt wear, unusual whine, or boost lag at wide-open throttle, supercharger belt failure is catastrophic and expensive
For Redeye or Super Stock variants, confirm the upgraded oil pump and Demon-derived internals are present as standard, this is not an upgrade to verify but a spec to confirm on documentation

Supercharger belt and tensioner
Inspect and replace proactively: belt failure destroys supercharger and can cause catastrophic engine damage
80,000 km
Driveshaft and U-joints (manual trans)
Inspect for play and wear, replace if any vibration noted, documented to fail suddenly on stock vehicles
60,000 km
Spark plugs (supercharged application)
Replace with correct heat-range plugs; worn plugs under boost cause misfires and potential engine damage
50,000 km
Engine oil cooler and coolant system
Flush and inspect hoses: supercharged engines run very hot and degraded coolant accelerates wear
80,000 km

Powertrain Control Module: Mopar Stage 1 Kit
Incorrect PCM calibration potentially causing unsafe engine or transmission behavior
Electrical System Wiring (2014-2018)
Wiring faults potentially causing electrical failure or fire risk
Instrument Cluster/Panel (2015 early production)
Incorrect or absent gauge/warning information may mask safety issues
Engine and Engine Cooling: Gasoline (2015 SRT)
Engine issue on 2015 Challenger SRT models manufactured September 2014 to February 2015
Side/Window Airbags (2015 early production)
Airbag may not deploy correctly in a crash, increasing injury risk

Do not choose between these based on horsepower alone. The Redeye and Super Stock variants use Demon-derived internals (stronger rods, upgraded oil pump, larger supercharger) which make them at least as durable as the base Hellcat despite the higher output, so a well-maintained Redeye is not a riskier buy than a base Hellcat. What matters far more across all three variants is documented oil change history and evidence the car was not repeatedly launched or tracked without proper warm-up and cool-down.
