Do not choose between S55 power variants based on horsepower alone, they all share the same fundamental bottom end and rod bearing exposure. The base and Competition tunes are mechanically near-identical, so buying decisions should hinge on documented maintenance and oil analysis results, not the hp figure on the window sticker. The CS variant carries the same risk with more load through it due to higher output, so treat any CS purchase with at least as much bearing scrutiny as a base car. The M4 GTS is a different animal with water injection and should not be used as a reference point for M3 buying decisions.
