Do not choose between N63 variants based on horsepower alone, the underlying oil consumption problem exists on both the early N63 and the later N63TU, it just shows up through a different failure path (valve seals early on, piston rings on the TU). What actually matters is documented proactive maintenance: proof of CCV hose replacement, turbo coolant pipe inspection, and clean compression/leak-down results. A higher-power N63TU with no service history is a worse buy than an early N63 with full documentation and evidence of participation in BMW's oil consumption Customer Care Package.
